| More about my horse. |
| Johnny Be Good is my Iron Man. Awesome sorrel gelding I bought as a trained barrel horse at 6 yrs. old & we just clicked. I made my last run on him at 24 yrs. & he still fired. He loved to run barrels & he made it so much fun. Johnny made alot of my dreams come true and I feel blessed to have had him all these yrs. He's retired now (my idea, not his ! ) & will always have a home here with me.
Joey is a grulla gelding I found in a back yard to replace Johnny. (yeah, right !! ) I brought Joey for his old-line breeding. He's turned into a nice barrel horse but he's pretty much a middle of the pack guy, doesn't love & crave it like my old horse. Johnny is proving to be a hard act to follow.
I miss the fast times & being competitive so I bought Rio, another sorrel gelding, last year as a 5 yr. old, cutting & reining bred. He's been a real challenge & I've had to raise the bar for myself to keep up with him. He's very smart, athletic, can run a hole in the wind but hasn't gotten the turn down yet....he's a work in progress. I am learning so much with this horse, it's exciting. Seems the more I learn, the more I find out I don't know. My Great Old Horse sure spoiled me as all I had to do was stay out of his way & let him fly. Heck...I thought they were all going to be that way. |
